We recently celebrated with the 9th year since our formation. We've been in many games such a LotRO, Vanguard, Darkfall, SW:TOR, EQ2, EVE Online, FFXIV, RIFT - not to mention GW2! After reading one of your articles, you mentioned how many of your members have become more PvE focused. We have been experiencing this issue to a lesser degree, but I digress.
We currently have 100+ active members, including a hardcore of about 20+ who regularly attend our arranged WvW events. During our time playing GW2 WvW, we've come across many other guilds similar to our own. Guilds such as Underworld Battalion, CoEx, Friskyttarna to name a few.
We would be interested in forming an alliance with your guild. Our PvP leadership structure consists of a War Officer (myself) with a group of Marshals assisting him with day-to-day running of WvW. We are not looking for a mega alliance comprised of completely random guilds. But who knows hows big it could become, with proper organization and leadership the possibilities are endless.
Would it be improper if I could perhaps attend one of your WvW events/arrangements? To just reiterate what I put in the previous paragraph, we want to form a strong alliance and seeing how you operate I think is a good start. If you wish to contact me in-game, my display name is Reunen.7306.
Any questions you have I would be more than happy to answer!
Unfortunately we don't have many people interested in sPvP. At launch we had 10+ people playing sPvP nearly every day. But interest died as many of our members found sPvP in GW2 quite lacking. There was also the issue of not being able to PUG sPvP at higher level if at all. So if we were missing 1 person and we had to get a PUG to fill it; we would have a major disadvantage against any other organized team.
In addition, we found the matchmaking system in terms of ranks was completely screwed. On a regular Friday night we were coming against whole teams at rank 30+ when most of our crew were only at about 10 seeing as we don't completely focus on sPvP as a guild. Although you don't get any advantage for being at a higher rank (apart from cosmetics) it does say something about that player's knowledge, tactics and perhaps even skill if they have attained a high rank.
Our guild motto is also "Casual but dedicated"; meaning that we are more than willing to commit hours to guild activities but a lot of us have families, children etc so we just couldn't compete against some of these teams who play 24/7.
It seems that both our guilds have encountered a lot of similar issues regarding the game and its effect on a guild. We had a large interest in TPvP as well but this died off pretty quickly. That said, we still hope that some of us will pick it up again when Arenanet adds the promised changes to this format.
I'm looking forward to anything that can improve the server Gandara and its guilds. So thanks for contacting us!
I guess you can join one of our events next week so you get a feel for how we play. We tend to play a bit more aggressive lately tho!
We plan to do daily WvW with a big group (20+ is our goal). While mostly functioning as a big roaming group that can take objectives quickly and take out enemy zergs out by flanking them etc. This requires us to be very mobile and we practice roaming a lot lately.
I'm not sure how much members Lux Arcana has and how active your members are on a daily basis but if the need is there, we could team up daily and split the leadership on different days. I'm thinking ahead already now tho!
Haldir will arrange a time for you to join one of our events next week first! :)
